Machine learning is gaining a lot of prominence and popularity as a technology that can analyze vast amounts of data and automates the tasks of data scientists. It has also an impact on art and culture starting with teaching art to be understood by computers.

Painting one of these art areas which is interesting and challenging. It may be hard to identify the artist or the movement of a painting for art enthusiasts. However, with the help of the Machine Learning, that problem can be resolved with ease without the perpetual need of human intelligence. In this project, we aim to extract the features of paintings which will lead us to obtain the characteristics of the paintings’ style. With the proper classification algorithms, we plan to classify these features with high accuracy.

Our project will tackle 12 different artists from 6 different art movements. Project will centre around the best-fit state-of-the-art learning models such as SVM (Support Vector Machine). Datasets which will be used throughout the project will be acquired manually from different resources in the next two weeks.
